Summer 2019 top destinations

Summer is now at the doorstep and it’s time to start thinking about your holiday if you haven’t done it yet!

With so many beautiful places in the world to explore, it is very hard to pick the perfect place for your next trip. For this reason, momondo has asked its Open World Ambassadors to create a list of the hottest destinations for the Summer 2019, to help our friends choose a destination.

After carefully reading through several travel social media channels and other forums, as well as talking to my fellow Ambassadors, this is the list of the most popular destinations to visit this summer:

Peru

It looks like Peru will be the most visited country this summer. A great place to learn about inca history, get lost through amazing artisanal markets, try what has been voted for years as the best food in the world and visit Machu Picchu – one the World Seven Wonders!

Italy

Whether you like the sea, the mountains, history, art, food, etc… Italy will never disappoint you! A lot of people have chosen this country for their summer holiday and will visit different places all across the peninsula. No matter what kind of traveler you are, Italy will have what you are looking for: go to the North, to spend some time on the beautiful Alps or visit beautiful towns like Venice and Genoa, head to the Centre to get immersed in history and arts in Rome or Florence, or visit the South to see the most amazing crystal clear water ever!

Albania and the Balkans

Another increasingly popular destination in Europe is Albania, a country that has nothing less to offer compared to its neighbour Greece, which has been an extremely famous summer destination for years. From here, you can explore the Balkans and other neighbouring countries, even if you are travelling on a budget. Nice people, amazing music, good food and beautiful sea…this seems like the best way to spend your summer holidays!

Tanzania

A lot of people I have been talking to are spending their summer holidays doing a safari. The best way to immerse yourself in the nature, see some wildlife and get a life-changing experience! Although Kenya and South Africa seem to be very popular destinations too, Tanzania wins this competitions, with many people planning to visit this amazing country in the August, its dry season!

Thailand

Thailand has been one of the top destinations to visit for years, thanks to the all that it has to offer. Street food, nature and adventures are the perfect recipe for your summer holiday, so make sure to visit this place. Thailand is also on my bucket list for this summer or maybe next!

New York

There is never a bad season to visit New York, but a lot of people will be heading to the most amazing place in the world this summer. If you want a holiday where you can never get bored, then you have to join them and visit New York!

Ireland

August is the perfect time to visit Ireland and maybe drive the Wild Atlantic Way, to make sure you don’t miss some of the stunning places along this route that might be closed during some times of the year. For this reason, Ireland is another top destination of Summer 2019. If you are here, make sure you visit all its beautiful beaches, listen to music, try a Guinness and have a chat with some of the nicest people on earth!

Norway

Source.

Finally, for those crazy people who don’t enjoy the humid and hot weather like me, there is the option to visit Norway, one if the Nordic countries in Europe. You can visit its beautiful fjords and enjoy almost 24 hours of sunlight, as during the summer months, the sun almost never sets in this country. Moreover, Norway was voted as the happiest place on earth last year: you do not want to miss a chance to visit it right?

  1. Albania is particularly fascinating to me… I have recently seen it popping up in various articles. Could be a good idea to visit before too many tourists discover it.
